How to clean old coins

I have some idea's but any info would be nice here? I have been using warm soapy water and a tooth brush for the old copper coins?

    Hello Treasureseekers,
    Depending on the the pantina (that green lumpy stuff) Your idea if fine But What works best is soaking the coin in olive oil for a few hours to a few days and using a q-tip. You might also want to try to use Hydrogen peroxide warm (microwave the solutuion for maybe 30-45 sec) And dropping the coin in the boiling peroxide. You will be amazed the the stuff coming off.
